I can’t tell you how many times I have run into a situation where a client’s hard drive crashes for one reason or another. And really, the preventative maintenance of something like that is pretty straight forward, but not too many people think about it.What happens is we get so caught up in spyware and antivirus software, that we totally forget about making backups of data. For example, I have all of my client’s record on one computer. What if that hard drive were to crash? I could do one of two things, start from scratch (which isn’t in the least bit appealing) or send the hard drive away to some lab and pay $600.00 to get the data extracted.
So this is more of a reminder that your information is precious, and with the right tool is pretty easy to back up. Norton Ghost does just that. It runs in the background as preventitive maintenance. It uses a very easy to understand interface and backs up your information onto a partition of your hard disk or an external source.
You don’t have to pay a lot of money for expensive off shore alternatives just to backup your system or your network. A lot of times all you need is a little piece of software!
